Hill sparks MSU in big conference victory



MANKATO -- Marcus Hill tied a career-high with 22 points to lead Minnesota State to an 88-76 victory over St. Cloud State in a matchup of the top two teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball race Saturday at Bresnan Arena.
The Mavericks (16-0, 9-0 in conference) now have a two-game lead over the Huskies and Augustana. Jefferson Mason added 18 points for the Mavericks.

Second-half run propels MSU men

MANKATO -- A 21-2 run over seven minutes of the second half allowed Minnesota State to defeat Concordia-St. Paul 84-63 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference men's basketball game Friday at Bresnan Arena.
Jefferson Mason had 18 points and nine rebounds, and Marcus Hill scored 16 points for the fourth-rated Mavericks (15-0, 8-0 in conference). The Mavericks host St. Cloud State at 8 p.m. Saturday.

MSU women upset league leaders

MANKATO -- Liz Trauger scored 24 points, and Laura Weber added 18 points -- both career-highs -- as Minnesota State upset Concordia-St. Paul 79-76 in a Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference women's basketball game Friday at Bresnan Arena.
The Mavericks trailed 41-33 at halftime but tied the game at the 11-minute mark on Lauren Barber's 3-pointer. Seniors Tiffany Moe and Trauger scored 12 of the team's final 16 points to hold off the 20th-ranked Bears, who lead the Northern Sun. Moe finished with 19 points and nine assists.

Sibley East wrestlers edge WEM

In a battle of two of the top teams in south central Minnesota, Sibley East
slipped past Waterville-Elysian-Morristown 33-31 Thursday in the first round
of a quadrangular in St. Peter.
WEM took a 31-27 lead into the heavyweight bout before Sibley East's Aaron
Rose delivered a pin in 1:22 to give his team the triumph.

Boys hockey: Mankato East/Loyola 9, Waseca 6

Taylor Ries' five-point night led the Mankato East/Loyola boys hockey team
to a 9-6 nonconference victory over Waseca Tuesday night at All Seasons
Arena.

Ries scored one goal and assisted on four others. Dan Billiar had a goal and
three assists, and Seth Allan and Janne Viiala each had two goals for the
winners.

Blake Malecha had a hat trick and two assists for the Bluejays.

Inside game propels East boys to victory

MANKATO &lsqauo; Senior center Sam Onsomu had 17 points and 12 rebounds, and
forward BeePee Pajibo added 16 points as Mankato East defeated Faribault
66-59 in a Big Nine Conference boys basketball game Tuesday at the East gym.

East/Loyola rallies for 5-3 win

The Mankato East/Loyola girls hockey team rallied from a 3-1 deficit
against St. Peter/Le Sueur-Henderson/Montgomery-Lonsdale/Le Center to pull
out a 5-3 nonconference win at All Seasons Arena. Freshman Savannah Quandt
scored four goals for the Cougars.
